The rambling collection of stores, which looks like it should be in a western state instead of Romeo, Michigan got it’s start because it’s owner, Maurice Foltz, had once seen a picture on the back of one of his daughters cereal boxes of a western looking town. This was his dream, to recreate that very town. And he did. In 1983 the Country Store was purchased by he and his wife Marjorie Foltz. At around the same time, the big red house was purchased, which was built in 1854 and is now home to Frontier Town Antiques. During the next few years, more than 10 acres of land were obtained for further development, which now includes the “Boardwalk”, a collection of shops themed as if they belonged in the old west.
